Portfolio dividend yield

Total annual dividend income ÷ total portfolio value × 100

Each position's annual income equals its value multiplied by its annual yield assumption. This automatically weights larger positions more heavily.

Privacy by design

This tool does not require an account and does not save or share position inputs. Because portfolio values can be personal, DividendTen intentionally does not place these inputs in the URL.

Refreshing or closing the page removes the inputs unless your browser restores form state on its own.

How to interpret this tool

How to interpret portfolio dividend yield

What this tool calculates

This calculator sums the modeled annual dividend income of each entered position and divides by total entered portfolio value to produce a value-weighted yield.

How to use it step by step

  1. Enter a position value.
  2. Enter the annual dividend yield assumption for that position.
  3. Repeat for any additional positions.
  4. Review total portfolio value, modeled annual income, and weighted yield.

What the result means

The weighted yield reflects the modeled income of the entered positions relative to their combined value.

What the result does not mean

It does not verify holdings, current prices, dividend sustainability, tax, fees, currency conversion, or future income.

Common mistakes

  • Averaging individual yields without weighting by position size.
  • Mixing position values from different currencies without conversion.
  • Using stale or forward yields without clear labels.
  • Assuming the monthly equivalent is an actual payment schedule.

Portfolio dividend yield FAQ

How do I calculate a portfolio dividend yield?

A simple portfolio dividend yield equals total expected annual dividend income divided by total portfolio value, multiplied by 100. This calculator lets you enter up to six positions and calculates a value-weighted portfolio yield.

Why is portfolio yield value-weighted?

Larger positions contribute more to portfolio income and portfolio value. Averaging individual stock yields without considering position size can misstate the yield of the portfolio as a whole.

Does this calculator store my portfolio?

No. Inputs stay in your browser and are not sent to DividendTen. The shareable URL feature is intentionally omitted because position-level portfolio inputs can be personal.
