How to read a dividend calendar

Ex-dividend date: The most important date for timing purposes. Shares must be purchased before the market opens on the ex-date for the buyer to be entitled to the declared dividend. A stock's price often adjusts downward by approximately the dividend amount on the ex-date, though market conditions can mask this.

Record date: The company-side cutoff for identifying entitled shareholders. Under most settlement conventions, the record date falls one business day after the ex-date. Shareholders registered on the record date will receive the payment.

Payment date: The date on which the dividend is transferred to eligible shareholders, either directly to brokerage accounts or via nominees. The gap between ex-date and payment date can range from a few weeks to several months depending on the company and jurisdiction.

Amount and currency: The declared amount per share in the reporting currency. For S&P/ASX 200 stocks this is AUD. Exchange rates are not considered here; international investors should account for currency conversion and any applicable withholding tax.

Dividend calendar questions

What is a dividend calendar?

A dividend calendar is a table that lists upcoming dividend events for a set of companies. Each row shows the ex-dividend date (the first date a share trades without entitlement to the declared payment), the record date, the payment date, the declared amount, the currency, and the payment frequency.

What is the ex-dividend date for ASX 200 stocks?

The ex-dividend date is the first trading day on which a stock no longer carries the right to the next declared dividend. To receive a dividend, an investor must own the shares before the ex-date. The calendar below shows upcoming ex-dates for selected S&P/ASX 200 constituents as of Apr 2026.

What is the difference between ex-date, record date, and payment date?

The ex-dividend date determines buyer eligibility. The record date is the official company date for identifying entitled shareholders; it typically falls one business day after the ex-date under standard settlement rules. The payment date is when the dividend is actually transferred to shareholders.

How current is this dividend calendar?

The calendar reflects a snapshot as of Apr 2026. Dividend events can be revised or cancelled by issuers at any time. Always verify dates and amounts against the company's investor relations page or the relevant exchange before relying on them.
